Vent de Guitares / garlo

54 guitars placed on the summit of the highest dune in Europe. The magical song of hundreds of strings vibrating only under the wind's touch, immense sound bands crossed by harmonic waves, and by eddys of frequencies…

This is Vent de Guitares, a geo-acoustic creation, a work of land-art where the ephemeral act and the climatic uncertainty generate a timeless music.

World premiere & work of land art, Vent de Guitares is far beyond the only sound experiment.
The shape of the installation of 54 guitars was defined by the search of the best  orientation. The installation add to the sound research a visual & plastical creation.

The recording of the sound was a way to fix this ephemeral act, other fixations were made with other tools : pictures, video, painting, sculpture, writting...

Strings & Wind / garlo

Mini installation ( one guitar and one bass ) took place on the 25 and 26 of October 2000 at Muley Point / Utah just in front of Monument Valley / Navajo Land.
2 preparatory visits in 1997 & 98 enabled me to meet two healing singers Navajo  & Sioux and a Zuni flute player and to live in the Navajo community.
The extreme prudence of american & french institutions were nothing compared to friendly & musical relationships with native american people that needed a collaborative creation.

Recording sessions took place in Zuni pueblo & in Santa Fe.
The geo acoustic installation was made after to record the chords needed by our songs & music recorded before.

Strings & Wind it’s 2 geo-acoustic instruments  and it’s also : 12.000 kms driving in the Four Corners region ( Arizona / Utah / New Mexico / Colorado ) + friends in Zuni Pueblo and Navajo Land + base of Earth Link cdroad diary Earth Link ( French only ) + Zuni Pueblo cd + An exhibition with pics, texts, graphisms & music.

 Kaze / garlo

A creation halfway between Land Art and Musical Performance  : 32 guitars, furins, flags and bamboos were installed on Nata sand dune, near Fukuoka in front of the Corean Sea from the 26th to the 28th of February 1999... the exact place where in 1284 the mongol invaders of Kubilai Khan were stopped by a miraculous wind "the kamikazé".

This installation created a spontaneous "geo-acoustic" music.
After that, an exhibition took place downtown Fukuoka.
With the geo acoustic recordings, some gigs took place in Fukuoka with european rock musicians and japanese traditional musicians french & japanese texts and songs.
